Fortum in Lithuania

Fortum Heat Lietuva (previously Suomijos energija) has been operating in Lithuania since 1999. Fortum corporation owns 100% of its shares. The coming of Fortum to the Lithuanian energy market enables us to offer municipalities and industrial clients competitive biofuel and peat based heating solutions. We also offer partnerships in waste-to-energy production (waste burning plants).

Currently there are 74 employees working for Fortum Heat Lietuva.

Building Permit for CHP Plant in Klaipėda Obtained

At the end of February, 2011, Fortum Klaipėda obtained a building permit for the new CHP  Plant signed by Klaipėda Municipality administration.

Fortum Klaipėda Transferred Remaining Funds to Compensate for Eviction of Lypkiai Inhabitants in Klaipėda

Fortum Klaipėda in compliance with the partnership treaty between Lithuanian Ministry of Economy, Klaipėda City Municipality and Fortum Heat Lietuva has transferred the outstanding balance in the amount of 4,5 million Litas to be used for compensations for land and property that have been taken to be used for society’s needs.
