Fortum Švenčionių energija

Fortum Švenčionių energija was established in February 2001.  50%  of its shares is held by the municipality of Švenčionys region and the remaining  50%  by Fortum Heat Lietuva. The executive rights, according to mutual agreement,  belong to “Fortum Heat Lietuva”.

The main activity of the company is heat and hot water production, supply and sales to citizens, companies and organizations of Švenčionys, Švenčionėliai and Pabradė.

The main activity of the company is heat and hot water production, supply and sales to citizens, companies and organizations of Švenčionys, Švenčionėliai, and Pabradė.

The powerplants of Švenčionys and Švenčionėliai were renovated and converted from burning high sulfur content fossil fuel to biofuel. The boilers that were installed are the most innovative Finnish imports with an efficiency ratio of 94 per cent.

Investments and Renovations

 

In 2001,  a new boilerhouse was build in Švenčionėliai employing a 4 MW biofuel boiler and a 500 cubic meter wood storage with an automated fuel supply system.

In 2003, the boilerhouse in  Švenčionys was modernized by installing a 4,5 MW biofuel boiler, automated heating substations in various objects around town and new district heating piping.

In 2007, all multi-story apartment buildings equipped with automated heating substations in Švenčioneliai.

Since Pabradė boilerhouses uses natural gas for heat production, the investments were directed towards the optimization of heat production and supply. In 2004, 5 new heating substations were installed in multi-story apartment buildings. In 2005, a 288 meter section of district heating piping was replaced.  This project received 87 000 Litas support from the EU structural funds. 2006 saw the construction of a new automated gas boilerhouse.

In 2009 company received EU financial support for district heating network modernization in Švenčionys and Švenčionėliai.
