2011 March 23 d., Wednesday

At the end of February, 2011, Fortum Klaipėda obtained a building permit for the new CHP  Plant signed by Klaipėda Municipality administration.

Even though the process of obtaining the permit took longer than planned due to new building regulations and changes in procedures to obtain the permit, the work should continue according to the schedule. The first stages of construction will begin in early March.

According to the current plans, the first pieces of equipment for waste and biofuel boilers should arrive in May or June. By that time there are many preparatory works to be completed, including a driveway to the construction site, underground works and storage facilities, and, most importantly, the foundation for boiler and fuel bunker.

At the same time the new employees who will operate the CHP plant will be hired. A new team of employees who will be ready to operate the most modern plant in Lithuania safely and reliably should be fully assembled by the end of 2012 when the powerplant starts its operations.
It is expected that the CHP plant will start operating at its full capacity by the first quarter, 2013.
